Canberra Community Marks Democracy Day with Cultural Showcase

Members of the Nigerian community in Canberra gathered to celebrate Democracy Day with a cultural showcase featuring music, traditional attire and Nigerian cuisine, in an event supported by the High Commission's Community Affairs desk.

The event brought together families from across the Canberra region and provided an opportunity to celebrate Nigeria's democratic journey while strengthening bonds within the diaspora community in the Australian Capital Territory.

Attendees enjoyed performances representing several of Nigeria's cultural traditions, alongside remarks from community leaders reflecting on the significance of the day.

The High Commission thanks all community members and volunteers who helped organise and support the event, and looks forward to continuing to support community-led initiatives throughout the year.
