Frequently Asked Questions
Find quick answers to common questions about our services.
How do I renew my Nigerian passport?
Nigerian passport renewals use the same Standard Passport Application process as a new passport, through the Contactless Passport Application System (CONPAS). Start your application at passport.immigration.gov.ng, selecting “Apply from Outside Nigeria” and then “Apply for Renewal/Reissue”. You'll verify your identity with your NIN and date of birth, complete the application form, and choose your Processing Embassy.
Once you have your Application ID and Reference Number, you can opt in to the Contactless process and complete biometric enrolment through the NIS Mobile App, then send your documents to your chosen Processing Embassy.
How do I apply for a Nigerian visa?
Nigerian visa applications (Tourist, Business, Temporary Work Permit and STR) are completed online at portal.immigration.gov.ng, where you also make your online application payment. Required supporting documents are then sent to the Nigeria High Commission, and a separate High Commission Administration Fee applies.
What are the NIN enrolment requirements?
NIN enrolment for the diaspora is conducted by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in collaboration with EH-LED Global Resources Ltd, represented by Commscentric Pty Ltd. The enrolment process and its specific document requirements are managed through their application portal at ninbooking.com — follow the instructions provided there. Once your registration is complete, you can book an appointment with the High Commission online.
How do I book an appointment?
Click “Book an Appointment” in the site header, then choose the appointment type you need — Consular Appointment, Passport Appointment, Visa Appointment, or an appointment with the High Commissioner / Diplomatic Officers — or select “View all appointment types” to browse every category. From there you'll choose (or confirm) a service, then a date, time, timezone, enter your details, review and confirm.
What payment methods are accepted?
Three payment methods are used across services: the NIS Mobile App (for the USD $100 Passport Application Fee), Money Order (for applicable High Commission administration and consular fees), and Bank Transfer (for Driver's Licence Certification). Not every service accepts every payment method — always confirm the correct method on the relevant service page.
How do I certify a document?
The type of certification depends on the document: personal documents and certificates, products for import / Free Sales Certificates, and Driver's Licences each have their own requirements and fee. Select the relevant certification service to view its exact document checklist, fee and mailing instructions.
